Canon PowerShot SX100 IS

I have had my Canon PowerShot SX100 IS for a few years now, and I have absolutely loved using it. I've always wanted to own a really good camera, but I didn't want to start out too high-end, because I wanted to get to know the functions of one. I chose this Canon PowerShot out of many I'd been looking at because of its functions.
It is pretty user-friendly, especially for those who have no idea what Aperture and ISO mean. It's been a great camera for me to learn on. It takes amazingly clear pictures and zooms 30x (10x optically). The clarity of the pictures really fades as you zoom far, but for your everyday shots, it really does the trick. I love the macro function, and the fact that I can use macro on almost any setting. I've learned a lot just by trial and error on this camera.
The Canon PowerShot SX100 IS can also take a beating! My 13-month old daughter has gotten hold of it numerous times, and dropped it on the hardwood floor, and it still works as perfectly as the day I got it.
My only wish for this camera was that it had a rechargeable battery. I take tons of photos and go through batteries like water. It has to be a name-brand battery too, the cheaper ones drain way too fast.
Thanks to the Canon PowerShot SX100 IS, I've learned so much about digital photography, and I'm actually researching professional DSLRs by Canon now. I've got my eye on the Rebel and the 50D... but this camera will stay with me for as long as it can last, because it's small enough to fit in my purse, or take along camping, floating, and generally running around.
