How to label a photo for submission to stock photo agency ?

by Maya Koyo

I am starting to submit photos to stock agencies and since I have never done this before, I would like to know how to label the submissions.

Do I put my name on the label ?
Do I leave the original number that was generated at the time of the shooting (for me reference) ?
Do I use keywords in any particular sequence ?
Etc. etc.
Can you show me an example of a photo used for submission with the appropriate labeling ?

Thanks a lot,
MK

When submitting stock photos, the important thing is how potential buyers will find your pictures. They find your picture by searching for particular keywords on the stock site.

If you have a photo of a person sitting smiling, then the keywords would probably be something like: girl, sitting, smiling, female smiling, woman sitting. There is no particular order although I would put my most important ones first.

You have to think what people would type in to find your picture and label with those words.

I don't have a specific example to show you, but if someone else has, they can submit it here and I will add it to this post.
