This pup was just looking to escape from his grounds just to go walking around. It was a cold afternoon and he was so friendly and you can see the sadness in his eyes just wanting to get out and be loved.

I walked over to him and took the photo with my Canon EOS 50D at around 2:00 PM est. I was just walking on my way to the Juniper Park in Queens, New York when this pup caught the corner of my eye.

I sensed he wanted me to come closer and show him some care which I did slowly being as cautious as I could have picked up the wrong vibe but I was correct.

The pup was so friendly and he just wanted a bit of love. He was in his yard all alone and I guess the owner must have been out but left him behind. When I took out my camera he started to pose for me and as I started to walk away he gave me the saddest eyes as you can see in the photo. I just wanted to take him with me.

The photo was taken free hand at fstop f/7.1, Exposure time of 1/30 sec, and a Focal length of 135mm.

I love the shot....but maybe turn it black and white for a more dramatic affect. He looks sad and helpless and I think B & W shots help bring that out. Just a suggestion! :) Good luck!

Fred, looks great. Surprised at the sharpness at 1/30th. What ISO were you running? Only touchup I would have done is to lighten it a wee bit to get more of the white chest to stand out. Maybe a little shadow removal to try and get the eyes to stand out also. With that sad face, you want the persons eye to home in on the dogs eyes showing how sad he is.

I think that was an awesome capture! (S)he looks so innocent, the eyes make you realize that canine wouldn't do anyone any harm. I usually try to stay away from dogs like this (I've been bitten 3 times in my life already), but the eyes make the boxer seem very friendly.
